Once upon a time, the universe was like a creepy cabin in the woods, unwelcoming and uninviting. The vastness of its ever-expanding size made it impossible to explore. It was a lonely era of galactic isolation until Surblick Gigler, who was Nikola Tesla's first alien form, created the "Universal Atlas", an infinite map of every habitable world in the cosmos, known as THE ASTRONOMICON. The galaxy flourished.

Everything changed when the OCTOLUMINATY arrived. The Octoluminaty are eight self-aware AI mechanoids created by long-extinct civilizations. They stole the Astronomicon, which conceals all planetary ASTRO-COORDINATES and formed UTS (Universal Travel Services). This marked the beginning of "Planetary Segregation." The location of worlds became currency, and UTS imposed their proprietary power source, FUEL-STICKS, on the entire universe. To make matters worse, UTS outlawed spacecraft ownership unless leased through them, making the Octoluminaty the most powerful space lords to ever exist. However, in their artificial arrogance, they made one fatal error: they created the first "P.I.," a plant-based synthetic intelligence called CACTINA - a Chlorophile-Artificial-Conscious-Tactical-Intelligence. Cactina was tasked to guard the Astronomicon in the only ship powered by JUMP-STICKS, named the OCTO-π. Sadly for them, Cactina malfunctioned and hijacked the Astronomicon, disappearing without a trace...
